Korean actor Lee Min-ho will be taking on alternative civilian service in place of military service.
The Korea Herald via AsiaOne received this information from insiders in the entertainment industry.
The reason given was a past injury from a serious car accident in 2006.
He had metal rods inserted into his fractured legs which were later removed to improve his work in stunt scenes.
He was involved in another car accident in 2011 while filming City Hunter.
Because of these two past incidences he was given an exclusion from typical military service.
In a recent interview, he mentioned that his next SBS drama series will be his last before enlisting.
In Korea, all Korean male citizens between the age of 18 and 35 must
enlist in the military as South and North Korea are technically still at
war with each other.
Men with certain medical conditions may be allowed alternative
service as public interest personnel, working in various parts of the
public sector in lieu of military service.
